Planned meeting between EU vaccine steering board and scientific advisors

Dear Secretariat General of the European Commission,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents in connection with the following:

The planned meeting in March between the EU vaccine steering board and national scientific advisors on the scientific aspects of the vaccine strategy for 2022.

The European Court of Auditors report on the EU’s vaccine procurement found that “In mid-March 2021, the steering board agreed to plan a meeting with EU and national scientific advisors on the scientific aspects of the vaccine strategy for 2022. Such a meeting never took place.”

I’d like all emails, memos, reports, and communications, including and not limited to text messages, that are connected to the meeting, and that were sent in the run up to it. I’d also like any documents explaining why the meeting did not take place.

Yours faithfully,

Carlo Martuscelli

Dear HERA access to documents,

Thank you for the helpful reply.

I have a follow-up question that I couldn't have asked at the start because I didn't know that the the scientific meeting had actually taken place. Can you share any documents or information relating to what guidance the scientific advisors attending the meeting gave regarding the optimal quantity of vaccine doses that the EU should purchase going forward?

Yours faithfully,

Carlo Martuscelli
