Proof of origin - Suspension of period of validity

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Trade should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Michaël Vang Giel

Dear Trade,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

In several Free trade agreements is stipulated that the proof of origin has to be presented to the MS customs administration within the period of validity of the certificate/proof of origin.
If goods are stored under customs supervision in a bonded warehouse, and the proof of origin has been presented within the said period validity, will the period of storage suspend the validity of the certificate/proof of origin. This situation will happen when goods will be declared for free consumption on a moment whereby the original period of validity is expired.

The same situation can happen for goods originated in Japan.
Is it possible to suspend the period of validity of the statement of origin, when goods are stored in a bonded warehouse and the claim for preferential tariff treatment will be made after the original period 12 month?

Yours faithfully,
