Re: JORA Variables for Incidents During JO EPN-HERMES and JO TRITON, 2011-2014

The request was partially successful.

Dear European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders,

I'd first like to thank Frontex for its prompt and relatively complete replies to my previous requests. I appreciate and respect the work that must be taken out to fulfill them. Please be sure to extend my thanks to those who have to complete these requests.

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting the following data from Frontex's records: for each incident report filed during JO EPN-HERMES and JO TRITON from 2011-2014, the following variables (where available) and corresponding metadata from JORA:

4. Incident Type
5. Date of Reporting
6. Detection Date

8. Lattitude Detection
9. Longitude Detection
10. Interception Date

15. Longitude Interception
16. Reference to Operational Area
19. Country of Departure
20. Place of Departure
21. Date of Departure
21. Date of Arrival
22. Country of Destination
25. Migrants Deterred (Aggregate)
26. Victims of Trafficking (Aggregate)

If possible, then please put these variables into a spreadsheet (.xls or .xlsx) or equivalent format (.csv; .txt).

For each observation or variable omitted, please add a comment, where applicable, to note omissions due to exceptions to Regulation 1049/2001. These can be in the document or in a separate document.

Thank you,

To whom it's concerned,

I just wished to follow-up with my request to confirm its receipt with Frontex. Could you please confirm that it has been received?

Thank you,
Keegan Williams

Dear Frontex,

While I appreciate the effort and time your organisation needs to fulfill my FOI request ('Re: JORA Variables for Incidents During JO EPN-HERMES and JO TRITON, 2011-2014'), I am writing to notify you that the 15-day normal deadline for my request has passed. Please respond as soon as possible. If no clarification or response has been received in a week (3 March), then I will be requesting an internal review. Thank you.

Yours sincerely,
Keegan Williams

Dear Keegan

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner. I just wanted to clarify that as there is no Frontex document that contains all the information you requested your request is not a PAD request but a request for information. We are working on compiling the information you requested and will get back to you shortly.

Best regards

Ewa Moncure

Dear Ewa Moncure,

Thank you for your reply. I realise that my request might take a bit of time to complete for Frontex. That said, I have waited for nearly 30 days now. While the information requested is not in a single document, it is part of the statistical data maintained by Frontex in JORA and, I suspect, could be produced through database queries in a short period of time.

I'd like to notify Frontex that I will be submitting a request for internal review on Thursday, 12 March if I've not received a full response to my FoI request. I believe this is reasonable, given the circumstances.

I look forward to Frontex's reply.

Yours sincerely,
Keegan Williams

Dear European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders's handling of my FOI request 'Re: JORA Variables for Incidents During JO EPN-HERMES and JO TRITON, 2011-2014'.

My complaint is that 30 days have passed since the initial request, which is far longer than the legally-mandated 15-day period.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: http://www.asktheeu.org/en/request/re_jo...

Yours faithfully,
Keegan Williams

Dear Ewa Moncure,

Thank you. I appreciate Frontex's hard work. I also thought I'd let Frontex know that they gave me more information than I requested.

Yours sincerely,
