Regulatory cooperation with the United States

The request was partially successful.

Dear Secretariat General,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents coverede by the following:

all communication between the European Commission AND US regulatory agencies, the US Department of Commerce, the US State Department, and the US Trade Representative, concerning "early warning items" between the EU and the U.S. since "The Joint U.S.-EU Statement on Early Warning and Problem Prevention Principles and Mechanisms", adopted at the Bonn Summit in June 1999, including items following the adoption in 2002 of the "Guidelines on Regulatory Cooperation and Transparency" (2002) to date.

The aim of the reqquest is to compile a complete list of "early warning items" since the inception of the early warning mechanism, however as I have learned that no such document exists, I see no other option than to ask for documents that will enable me to construct the list myself.

The request will involve several, and perhaps most Directorate Generals.

Yours faithfully,

Kenneth Haar

Secretariat General of the European Commission
