Dear Secretariat General (SG),

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as
developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting access to any
documents pertaining to senior officials' attendance at the annual Bilderberg group meetings.

I am a journalist based in Brussels and I believe it is in the public
interest to know which commissioners or other senior officials attend
the Bilderberg group annual conference and to what extent the contents
of these meetings are shared with other colleagues in Brussels.

Please send the documents to me in electronic format.

Yours faithfully,

Andrew Rettman

Dear Secretariat General (SG),

Thanks.

That's a small start.

But I requested to see any documents relating to their attendance at the meetings: e.g. did they brief colleagues on the content of the Bilderberg meetings, did the institution draft any opinions on whether its useful/appropriate for them to go?

is there absolutely nothing else?

Yours faithfully,

Andrew Rettman

Secretariat General of the European Commission

Dear Mr Rettman,

I refer to your e-mail dated 11 July 2012, registered under GESTDEM number

regarding public access to European Parliament, Council and Commission
documents.

In your application you request access to any documents relating to the
attendance of the Vice President Almunia in meetings with the Bilderberg
Group.
I regret to inform you that after having performed a thorough search of

I apologise for the inconvenience this may cause. Please note that your
request is treated separately under GESTDEM numbers 2012/3627 and

Dear Mr Rettman,

We refer to your access to documents request registered on 23/07/2012 with
GestDem No 2012/3629.

We understand that you are requesting access to any documents (briefings,
reports or opinion drafted by DG TRADE or Commissioner's cabinet) relating
to Karel De Gucht's attendance in Bilderberg meetings in 2010, 2011, 2012.

Karel De Gucht has attended these meetings in 2010 and 2012 as participant
on a personal invitation. Members of the Commission attend numerous
meetings which provide them with contacts with civil society. He did not
represent the Commission at the Conference as the Commission has no link
with the Bilderberg conference. Karel De Gucht did not report to the
Commission on the discussions held during these meetings. Accordingly,
no documents were found that would correspond to the description given in
your application.

We are, therefore, unable to handle your application and it will be closed
in DG TRADE.

Yours faithfully,

Indre
