Returns on investments in EU Economic and Social Development and EU Competitiveness

The request was partially successful.

Dear Economic and Financial Affairs,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

Details of the projected monetary values of the outstanding returns on investments which the UK has made in
1. EU Economic and Social Development
2. EU Competitiveness
projects based upon (a) the UK’s gross contributions to the EU budget since 1995 and (b) the UK’s nett contributions to the EU budget since 1995? If possible, please provide a breakdown of the sums which are included in any total figures?

Thank you

Yours faithfully,

Paul Mc Crory

Dear Mr Mc Crory,

Thank you for your interest in the EU budget.

You can find all figures related to the 'operating budgetary balance'
(the difference between what a country contributes to the EU budget and
receives from EU budget programmes) in the

Financial reports published every year. For the most recent data and
explanations, please see the [1]2015 Financial report or our
[2]interactive chart including a downloadable detailed excel table with
[3]data from 2000-2015. Figures for 2016 will be available in July.

For the contribution of the UK, please choose in the interactive chart
'Revenue' / 'By country' – UK / and, in the second line, 'Total national
contribution'. Please note that EU Member States keep a certain percentage
of the amounts as collection costs. You find more information about this
on the [4]'EU's own resources page'.

The interactive chart as well as the excel table also allow you to get
detailed information about the EU expenditure in the UK.

Yours sincerely,

Eirini Nikolaidou
