Situation in the Central Mediterranean Sea

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, European Border and Coast Guard Agency should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Ouajih Badreddine

Cher Agence européenne pour la gestion de la coopération opérationnelle aux frontières extérieures,

Au titre du droit d'accès aux documents dans les traités de l'UE, élaboré dans le Règlement 1049/2001, je demande les documents contenant ces informations:

I'm searching for information regarding distress situations in the Central Mediterranean sea of irregular migrants leaving from Libya or Tunisia, and heading to Europe. Thus, I would like to request data regarding each distress situation at sea Frontex had been made aware of (either thanks to its own assets or those of EUNAVFOR, or by Maltese, Italian, Tunisian coastguards, or by NGOs, or any sailing ship), from 2011, january 1st, to 2021, august 31.

Could you communicate those data in a CSV file with these variables:

Date of distress situation (DD/MM/YYYY)
Time at which Frontex had been made aware of the distress situation (HH:MM:SS)
Coordinates of distress situation first detection (longitude, latitude)
Coordinates of distress situation resolution/interception (longitude, latitude)
Cause of distress
Transport type
Total number of irregular migrants implied
Death cases
Source of the alert (Frontex assets, EUNAVFOR assets, coastguards (country), NGO (name), other ship (name), boat in distress, other)
Asset(s) fulfilling SAR operation
Port of disembarkation
RCC coordinating SAR operations
Frontex financed/deployed asset during ? (Y/N)

Thank you very much in advance,
Best regards,

Je vous prie de croire, Monsieur/Madame, à l'assurance de mes salutations distinguées,

Ouajih Badreddine
