Stakeholders in The Ban on Cat and Dog Fur

The request was partially successful.

Dear Consumers, Health and Food Executive Agency,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information: I wonder who was the rapporteur of the ban on cat and dog fur (2007) and who you consulted (for information about it for example).I would like to know this for my master's thesis.

Yours faithfully, Hannah Santens

Dear Consumers, Health and Food Executive Agency,
for my masters' thesis i would really like to know who the stakeholders were in the ban on cat and dog fur, which animal welfare oranisations or other organisations had an impact? This information stays within the University of Ghent.

Yours faithfully,

Hannah Santens

Consumers, Health and Food Executive Agency

Dear Ms Santens,

Chafea has received your enquiry related to the Regulation (EC) No 1523/2007 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2007 concerning the ban of the placing on the market and the import of or export from the Community of cat and dog fur and products containing such fur,
and in particular your questions about:
 who is the Rapporteur for the Regulation and who was consulted
 which stakeholders/animal welfare organisations or other organisations were involved and/or had an impact (presumably in the Regulation preparatory phase).

Although the enquiry does not fall under the scope of Regulation EC n. 1049/2001 as it concerns a request for information and not a request for concrete public documents, we would like to provide you with some links to relevant pages that could help you to further investigate the subject at stake.

Please take into account that in the following sections of the websites of the European Parliament and the EU law official database, related to the consultation and preparatory phase of the Regulation (EC) No 1523/2007:

http://www.europarl.europa.eu/oeil/popup...

http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/E...

you may find any kind of information about the Procedure which lead to the adoption of the Regulation, the key players, the Rapporteurs within each involved Institution, as well as technical information and a complete list of documents.

Please note that Chafea, as executive agency, does not deal with policy issues, as its mandate is restricted to budget implementation. Therefore we recommend that in case you have further questions regarding the above mentioned issue you contact directly the relevant services in the European Commission or the European Parliament.

Kind regards,

Chafea Helpdesk
