UK's MEP's Attendance record for the last 20 years.

We're waiting for William Smith to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear European Parliament,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

The Attendance record of the UK's MEP's to votes and to EU parliamentary meetings. I am not well versed with what the day to day running's of an MEP at the EU parliament so an account for an average day in the life of would be appreciated as well. The would include the frequency of meetings and how long they might be.

Yours faithfully,

William smith

Dear Mr Smith,

Further to your request regarding attendance record of the UK's MEP's to
votes and to EU parliamentary meetings, please note that there is no
single document containing that information.

However, you can find all the relevant data through several links listed
here after. As you claim not to be very versed with what the day to day
life at the Parliament looks like, you could perhaps start with the
general information pages

[1]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/aboutparli... ; click on the tab
"Organisation and Rules" to have an overview; afterwards, the tab "How
Plenary works" can shed some light on the Parliament's core business

For the plenary in detail, see :
[2]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/plenary/en...

The plenary calendar for years 2002 till 2016 are here :
[3]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/RegistreWe...

(the days highlighted in red correspond to the plenary sittings in
Strasbourg (one week) or in Brussels (2 days))

The attendance list to the plenary sittings can be found as an annex to
the plenary provisional minutes :
[4]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/RegistreWe...

Before reaching the plenary, a report has to go through the committees :
 [5]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/committees...

As for committees' meetings, the attendance list (and the votes) are also
included in the minutes :
[6]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/RegistreWe...

For each committee, you can find the Agendas of their meetings
[7]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/RegistreWe...

There you can see the schedule, so the duration of the meetings, that will
depend on the matters debated.

Now, you have to bear in mind that Members of the European Parliament do
not work/seat by country but by political groups, so there is no list of
activity by country; you can have a look at the list of current UK's MEP's
:

[8]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/meps/en/se...

The lists of former Members are available here :
[9]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/RegistreWe...

We also attach an extract table with the UK's Members between 1979 and
2014.

On their personal pages, you can find information on the history of
parliamentary service and parliamentary activities :

[10]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/meps/en/se...

You can also use the tool [11]http://www.votewatch.eu/ : choose the tab
"European Parliament"  to have information about the votes, the
participation, by political group, by national parties, by MEP....

We hope this can help you understand a bit more how our Institution works.
Please, feel free to contact us, should you have further questions.

Kind regards
