Visa applications to Spanish Consulate in Manila

The request was successful.

Dear Migration and Home Affairs,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

I wish to know the statistics for 2015 for Schengen visa applications made to the Spanish Consulate in Manila, Philippines. Statistics need to be differentiated according to:
a) Type of visa applied for, and the success rate of applications.
b) The number of, and rate of success for appeals against visa denial made to the consulate.
c) The success rate of appeals made to the Sala de Contencioso Administrativeo in Madrid.
d) The number of applications made for visas by family members of EU citizens.

Yours faithfully,

Chris Whewell

Dear Mr Whewell,

Thank you for your request for visa statistics concerning the Spanish
consulate in Manila, Philippines.

In 2015, this consulate received 15584 applications for short-stay uniform
(Schengen) visas. 1170 such applications were refused, resulting in a
refusal rate of 7.5% (i.e., in 92.5% of cases a visa was issued). There
were no applications for airport transit visas lodged at the Spanish
consulate in Manila in 2015.

The European Commission only receives those visa statistics that Member
States must submit according to Annex XII of the Visa Code (Regulation
810/2009). Therefore we do not have further information about the number
of applications made for visas by family members of EU citizens, nor about
the number and outcome of any possible appeals. Similarly, we do not have
information about the number of applications for national long-stay visas.

The full set of visa statistics collected by the European Commission is
available at the bottom of the following website:
