Your email of 6 January 2022
Dear Mr Schmittner,
Thank you for your request, in which you apply for access to documents in accordance with Regulation
(EC) No 1049/2001, that is applicable to documents held by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency
(EASA) under Article 119(1) of Regulation (EU) 2018/1139. In particular, you requested access to
documents containing information on
the average score (in percent) of the successful airline transport
pilot licence (ATPL) exams that are conducted under EASA rules as well as the average results in the
individual subjects, and a listing in new/old syllabus.
Please be informed that ATPL theoretical knowledge exams are conducted by the National Competent
Authority (NCA) of the Member States participating in the so-called EASA system1, and statistics on
ATPL theoretical knowledge exam performance have not been collected nor collated at a pan-
European level by EASA. Furthermore, as EASA does not deliver such exams, it does not generate its
own data either. Consequently, I regret to inform you that EASA does not hold any information or
document subject to your request. For further information on national data, you may wish to turn to
the NCAs directly.
Kindly note that in accordance with Article 7(2) of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 you have the right to
request EASA to reconsider its decision by making a confirmatory application. In such case, you should
send your reasoned confirmatory application in writing to the Executive Director of the Agency. The
deadline for submitting the confirmatory application is set at 15 working days from receipt of this
letter. Any confirmatory application received beyond this deadline cannot be accepted
Yours sincerely,
Stéphanie Rostren
