Mr. Phil HOGAN
Commissioner – Agriculture and Rural Development
European Commission
Brussels, 5th April 2016
Dear Mr. Hogan,
European Meat Network (EMN) is a non-profit network composed of the most important
European meat (food) industries involved in the slaughtering and processing of beef, pork, lamb
and poultry meat focusing directly or indirectly on consumers.
The purpose of the group is to strengthen the long-term position of the European meat sector
and to create a forum for discussions on recent developments in the regulatory status of the
meat sector.
EMN meets twice a year with experts from the EU Institutions to discuss the intentions and the
commitments towards important issues that might have consequences on the meat sector.
Since 2004, EMN members meet regularly Commissioners (Mrs. Fischer-Boel, Mrs. Vassiliou, Mr.
Verheugen, Mr. De Gucht etc.) and high officials of the European Commission and the Council,
along with members of the European Parliament.
In the occasion of our next meeting (3rd and 4th May 2016) we will organize an informal dinner
on Tuesday 3rd May. It would be a great honor if you could join us. During the dinner the
representatives of the companies and all guests will have the opportunity to discuss informally
about the meat sector and exchange their opinions.
The dinner will be preceded by a welcome cocktail, so in case you are not able to come to the
dinner, we will be glad to meet you for a drink. The exact time and location will be
communicated to you promptly.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Mr.
European Meat Network
