NOTE TO THE FILE
Subject:
Report from the meeting between G. Häeusler and Coceral on
19/06/2013

Participants: 7 representatives from Coceral including:

G. Häeusler, CAB,
 AGRI-C5
Coceral introduced their new president and raised the following issues:
•

•

•

•

•  Trade agreements:
and TTIP: Non tariffs barriers like GMOs
(LLP) or pesticides are problematic. Working on international
harmonisation of rules would facilitate trade
Coceral acknowledges that most of these areas are not in AGRI competence and showed
recognition towards the cooperation in advisory groups and the expert group on
commodities but wanted, still, to stress the impact of these issues on the agricultural
sector.
G. Häeusler:
•

Commission européenne/Europese Commissie, 1049 Bruxelles/Brussel, BELGIQUE/BELGIË

•

•

•  TTIP: Market access discussions are relatively straight forward and there are
opportunities for the EU but the regulatory part is complicated for the reasons
explained in relation to SPS. Consequently certain issues, e.g. GMOs, are not for
discussion
