Re:
Keynote Speaker Invitation – “A New Era for EU Trade Policy?”
Dear Commissioner Malmström,
The American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union (AmCham EU) is honoured to officially invite you
to deliver the keynote remarks at our upcoming event entitled, “
A New Era for EU Trade Policy?” on
Tuesday 17
October 2017.
Trade policy is increasingly the subject of debate and scrutiny in Europe and around the world. The business
community and stakeholders across the political spectrum share a common goal to help societies maximise the
opportunities of globalisation and technological change. The EU has already demonstrated important leadership
in responding to these developments, culminating in its “Trade for All” strategy issued in 2015, which outlined
a roadmap towards a more responsible trade and investment policy that benefits all parts of society.
In light of the recent European Court of Justice (ECJ) ruling on the legality of the EU-Singapore free trade
agreement, and against the backdrop of a continually evolving discussion on the future of trade and globalisation
and a new US administration, now marks an excellent opportunity to further reflect on these issues and help
shape a consensus-driven trade policy that works for businesses, consumers and citizens.
The forum will take place from Tuesday 17 October from
16.30-19.00 at
AmCham EU offices (Avenue des Arts
53, 1000 Brussels). The event will begin with a
panel discussion, followed by a
networking reception during
which we would be honoured if you would deliver remarks. The audience will include trade experts and relevant
stakeholders from government, business and civil society.
We are looking forward to hearing of your availability and will be in contact with your office regarding the details
of the forum. In the meantime, should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact
