The meeting focussed on the recent invitation of the CE Os of the three main German companies to the White House, a meeting that DG 
Trade and the Cabinet tried to dissuade. VOi explained that the meeting was organised by the US Ambassador in Berlin and that CEOs 
were unlikely to refuse if directly invited by the US President. 
In any event, Ignacio Garcia Bercero (1GB) indicated the EU would take a firm line and excluded any possible compromise entailing EU 
acceptance of illegal solutions, I ke voluntary export restraints. On the poss ble outcome of a 232 report proposina restrictina measures 
affectina EU export. he declared that a firm answer from the EU would follow suit
