FYI

Today we (4.1(b)
 and myself) met 4.1(b)

, Nike Government and Public Affairs with a view to discussing
the state of play with Indonesia.

4.1(b)
stressed that most of Nike's factories are in Vietnam, Indonesia and
China. In Indonesia there are 41 factories and 200 000 workers, making
Indonesia the second most important investment for the company.  4.2

4.1(b)
asked for a state of play of negotiations with Indonesia, the
Philippines. She also hinted at other ASEAN countries and the forthcoming Court
judgment on the Singapore Free Trade Agreement.

We conveyed the importance for GSP beneficiaries, including EBA countries like
Bangladesh and Cambodia, to live up to and honour their GSP obligations. In this
regard, 4.1(b)
indicated Nike's limited exposure to Bangladesh (three
factories only) 4.1(a) and 4.2
.
