Unfortunately, some of us will arrive late Monday evening and the rest
early in Tuesday. Tuesday and Wednesday seem to be the only possible
dates as it turns out.

Dear Mr

Thank you for your mail. I would be available for a meeting. In order to
avoid double bookings, could you please tell me if other visits at DG ENV
are foreseen?
I will unfortunately not be joining the EP meeting due to a prior
commitment,

Best regards,

Subject: SUP directive meeting request

Dear Mr.

I am writing to you on behalf of Kotkamills, a Finnish producer
of truly plastic-free consumer boards and packages.
There is now an ongoing heated debate on the definition of
plastics and scope in the Directive on the Reduction of the
impact of certain plastic products on the environment, the so-
called Single-Use Plastic Directive (SUP), with many opinions for
and against. Several opponents of the proposal object as they
claim no industrial-scale alternative exists to the use of plastic in
food and drinks containers.
Food and drinks containers already have a plastic-free
alternative that should be brought into the discussion. It is
possible to replace plastic coating in materials such as paper
cups, frozen food and hamburger boxes by easily recyclable,
environmentally friendly Barrier coating materials without
relatively big investments. These water-based polymer coatings
serve the same function as plastic coatings, with the added

benefit of being truly biodegradable and non-toxic to human or
animal health or the environment.
The CEO and representatives of Kotkamills will come to
Brussels on Tuesday October 9th and 10t
h and we would
appreciate it very much, if you could find some time in your
busy schedule to meet with us
so that we could discuss with
you about the alternatives for plastic use in products such as
food and drinks packaging.
MEP Miapetra Kumpula-Natri is also hosting an event on
Plastic-free packaging
 Tuesday 9.10. between 11.30-12.30 and
we would be honoured, if you could join us in the event on the
Directive.
The Commission's Plastic Strategy is a long-term vision for a
Circular Economy and reaching the UN's Sustainable
Development Goals. Today, Europe has the industry and
materials to reach these goals and we urge decision-makers to
take ambitious action to secure a better and ecological Europe.
If you have any questions, we’re of course more than happy to
tell more.

Best regards,

Kreab
