detailed information on possible duration of the later plant commissioning stages.
Nevertheless, to estimate the durations of the individual commissioning activities, the real dates
of major commissioning milestones of other recently completed VVER NPPs have been
compared to the planned dates for BelNPP in the Table 2. The relatively short intervals
between the first criticality and the first grid connection at Tianwan 2, Kalinin 4 and Rostov 3
may indicate either a reduced scope of start-up test usual at the VVER-reactors or a quick
power increase to a level eligible for a grid connection and subsequent return to zero power
level tests.
As an example of actual VVER plant commissioning activities, a detailed list of tests as
performed in the zero-power and power-ascension stage of the
- commissioning has been provided in the Annex 4. It should be noted that most
stages of the power ascension test period included periods of reactor hot or cold shutdowns

{into modes 3-6) to perform plant s stem inspections, revisions or eliminate problems.
In any case, the actual duration of the commissioning period at the BelNPP will depend on the
actual composition of the commissioning programme and number of parameters tested. In
general, the commissioning phase can be expected to be longer at the BelNPP 1 being kind of
a pilot one.
A direct comparison of the commissioning milestones has been performed in the Table 2 below:
