Ms. Kadri Simson
Commissioner for Energy
European Commission
Rue de la Loi 200
1049 Brussels
Paris La Défense, 4 December 2019.
Dear Commissioner,
On behalf of ENGIE and myself, I am writing to congratulate you on your recent nomination as the new European
Commissioner for Energy.
Your nomination comes at a crucial time for the European Energy Union. You will be playing a central role as
the “Clean Energy for all Europeans” package is being implemented, while the implementation process of this
legislation by all Member States is only beginning, and ahead of the future Green New Deal.
The European Union must continue its efforts to achieve a forward-looking climate change policy delivering
households and businesses a secure, sustainable, competitive and affordable energy.
We, at ENGIE, commit to shaping a zero-carbon transition in an affordable manner for European customers and
to further building on the excellent cooperation we have had with the Commission to provide ideas and expertise
for the future energy and climate agenda.
I look forward to meeting with you in the coming period to discuss these important issues and future challenges.
Allow me to wish you the best of success during your mandate as European Commissioner for Energy.
Yours faithfully,
