Dear Ms. Christen,
We refer to your request for access to documents introduced pursuant to Regulation (EC)
No 1049/2001 regarding public access to European Parliament, Council and Commission
documents (hereinafter ‘Regulation 1049/2001’) registered on 19/01/2021 under the
above-mentioned reference number. We also refer to our email dated 09/02/2021 (our
reference, Ares(2021)1129263) whereby we informed you that the time limit for
handling your application was extended by 15 working days pursuant to Article 7(3) of
Regulation 1049/2001.

Given the large number of documents falling within the scope of your request, on
02/02/2021 we contacted you with a view to finding a fair solution based on Article 6(3)
Regulation 1049/2001 (our reference Ares(2021)906452). By means of our fair solution
proposal, we informed you that we had already identified more than one hundred
documents falling within the scope of your application.

Against this background, we asked you to reduce the scope of your application in such a
way that would enable its treatment within the extended deadline of 15+15 working days
by specifying the objective of your request and reducing the number of documents.
By means of your email of 09/02/2020 (our re
f. Ares(2021)1121778), you asked to
reduce the scope of points 3 and 4 to the following:
“3. All documents or a summary which provides the funding given to the European
University Institute by the EU from 2015 to 2020 inclusive, per year. I am looking for the
names of the projects, the name of the department/s providing the funding, and any other
details available concerning the funding.
4. All documents or a summary which provides the funding given to the European
University Association by the EU from 2015 to 2020 inclusive, per year. I am looking for
the names of the projects , the names of the department/s providing the funding, and any
other details available concerning the funding.”
