Ref. Ares(2022)110688 - 07/01/2022
The Commission (ABR) informed that COM intends to abide by deadlines for IAs and Guidelines
of the Directive where possible, and in any case cannot postpone the deadline for transposition
by the Member States, as defined by the co-legislators. COM also explained the procedures for
the adoption of Guidelines, as well as the IAs, and indicated that whereas draft texts would be
available already in June/July, formal adoption by the College may follow only after the summer.
Outcome of the Stakeholder consultations is taken into account in developing the draft acts, but
no further Stakeholder workshops would be taking place, except on the marking of SUP
products in July, when the results from consumer testing (1st phase) will be presented. COM also
gave an overview of the work on the other Work Packages with the respective timelines, while
expressing some specific concerns over the proposed decision tree for the Guidelines, as this
would suggest exemption is the rule and inclusion in the SUPD the exception.
Best,
