Dear Mrs Rojas,

In reply to your two similar requests for access to documents related to
meetings and documents of two former MEPs with representatives of
churches/religious communities, Parliament draws your attention to the
fact that all official parliamentary work of MEPs –tabled under
Parliament's Rules of Procedures-  is published in the Parliament's
webpages : [1]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/plenary/en... OR
[2]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/RegistreWe...
as well as in the webpages dedicated to each MEP
([3]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/meps).

Regarding Mr Casini (between 2006 and 2014),  Parliament identified the
following 2 documents with a link between the MEP and a religious topic :

-              Joint Motion for a Resolution on the situation of
Christians in the context of freedom of religion (B7-0039/2011 of
18.01.2011 / co-author) :
[4]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/sides/getD...
(the link includes Parliament debates, votes and the adopted resolution)

-              a Written declaration dated 10.09.2012 on freedom of
religion

[5]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/sides/getD...

Concerning Mr Mayor Oreja, Parliament identified the following 3 documents
with a link between the MEP and a religious topic, during his
parliamentary mandates 2004-2014 :

-              Joint Motion for a Resolution on recent cases of violence
and persecution against Christians, notably in Maaloula (Syria) and
Peshawar (Pakistan) and the case of Pastor Saeed Abedini
(Iran) (2013/2872(RSP) - B7-0449/2013 of 09.10.2013 / co-author)
 [6]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/sides/getD...

-              a Joint Motion for a Resolution on the situation of
Christians in the context of freedom of religion (B7-0039/2011 of
18.01.2011 / co-author)  :
[7]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/sides/getD...

-              ORAL QUESTION with DEBATE on display of religious and
cultural symbols in public places  (O-0158/2009 of 07.12.2009  co-author)

[8]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/sides/getD...

the link includes the answer and the debates

It would be also important to highlight that in parallel with their
official mandates (Committee chairs, rapporteurs or shadow rapporteurs),
MEPs are free (Rule 2 of the Rules of Procedure
[9]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/RegData/re...
) to conduct their political activities on issues of their interest,
within their political groups or their constituencies as well as to
organise events on their behalf or to join informal groupings such as the
intergroups where they hold informal exchanges of views with the civil
society.

In this context, any document drawn up by an MEP –not tabled under
Parliament's Rules of Procedure-  is not to be considered as Parliament
document, and therefore does not fall within the scope of application of
Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 on access to documents.

On the other hand, MEPs' conduct is clarified in the : "Code of Conduct
for Members of the European Parliament with respect to financial interests
and conflicts of interest" (since 2012) and further developed in the
implementing Measures for this Code of Conduct (since 2013)
[10]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/meps/en/ab... .  Furthermore, according
to the most recent revision of Parliament's Rules of Procedures
(31.01.2019) MEPs of the next parliamentary term 2019-2024 are expected to
be more transparent about their meetings with interest representatives
(Rule 11a)

Parliament trusts that the attached documents satisfy your research and on
this basis it considers your requests as handled and the files closed.
Please do not hesitate to contact us again should you have any new request
for specific Parliament documents.
