Dear Mr Caruana,
We refer to your email dated 20/08/2018 in which you made an application
for access to documents, registered on 21/08/2018 under Ares(2018)4322370.
In particular, you wish to receive documents which contain information
about the right of a Member of the European Parliament to employ own
family members, such as an uncle and/or a brother-in-law, as local
assistants.
The description given in your application does not enable us to identify
concrete documents which would correspond to your request. It appears that
the information you seek concerns the applicable legal framework regarding
recruitment and employment of assistants to MEPs.
Please note in this respect that OLAF is an EU body mandated to detect,
investigate and stop fraud affecting the EU financial interests. OLAF
fulfils its missions by fighting fraud affecting the EU budget;
investigating corruption by staff of EU institutions; and developing
anti-fraud legislation and policies. OLAF is not therefore in a position
