Dear Chris Gaffney,

Thank you for your e-mail of 1 February 2023. We hereby acknowledge
receipt of your application for access to documents, which was registered
on 2 February 2023 under reference number Ares(2023)759974.

In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 regarding public access to
European Parliament, Council and Commission documents, your application
will be handled within 15 working days. The time limit will expire on 23
February 2023. In case this time limit needs to be extended, you will be
informed in due course.

You have lodged your application via a private third-party website, which
has no link with any institution of the European Union. Therefore, the
European Research Council Executive Agency (ERCEA) cannot be held
accountable for any technical issues or problems linked to the use of this
system.

Please note that the private third party running the AsktheEU.org website
is responsible and accountable for the processing of your personal data
via that website, and not the ERCEA. For further information on your
rights, please refer to the third party’s privacy policy.

We understand that the third party running the AsktheEU.org website
usually publishes the content of applicants’ correspondence with the ERCEA
on that website. This includes the personal data that you may have
communicated to the ERCEA (e.g. your private postal address).

Similarly, the third party publishes on that website any reply that the
ERCEA will send to the email address of the applicants generated by the
AsktheEU.org website.

If you do not wish that your correspondence with the ERCEA is published on
a private third-party website such as AsktheEU.org, you can provide us
with an alternative, private e-mail address for further correspondence.
In that case, the ERCEA will send all future electronic correspondence
addressed to you only to that private address, and it will use only that
private address to reply to your request. You should still remain
responsible to inform the private third-party website about this change of
how you wish to communicate with, and receive a reply from, the ERCEA.

Dear Chris Gaffney,

We are writing concerning your request for access to ERCEA documents
registered on 2 February 2023 under reference number Ares(2023)759974
where you ask access to "documents which contain the following
information: all information you have on uap/ufo/uaptf/uav/drones/unknown
phemonona ".

Please note that some terms and acronyms used in your application are
worded imprecisely and are not fully clear to us. We ask you to clarify
the scope of your request which would help to identify the documents
falling under it.

Therefore, in line with Article 6(2) of [5]Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001
regarding public access to documents, we invite you to send us more
detailed information on the terms/ acronyms referred to in your initial
request as well as documents you request, such as references, dates or
periods during which the documents would have been drawn up, persons or
bodies who drafted the documents etc.

In this regard, you may for example consult ERC Research Information
System (ERIS) database available here:
[6]https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/erceris/app...
where you can select from the portfolio of ERC funded projects the
proposals of your interest.

In addition to this database, the information about all ERC awarded grants
may also be searched through the project database 'ERC Datahub' available
here: [7]ERC Funded Projects | ERC: European Research Council (europa.eu)
and/or the Community Research and Development Information Service (CORDIS)
platform of the European Commission available here:  [8]Projects &
results | CORDIS | European Commission (europa.eu).

The 15 working days to reply to your request will start running only when
you reply to this message. If you do not reply within 7 working days, we
will close this case in line with our detailed rules for the application
of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001.

Finally, we would like to emphasize that the applications for access to
documents shall be made in a sufficiently precise manner to enable the
Agency to identify the requested documents and to individually assess
their content within the legal timeframe laid down in Regulation (EC) No
1049/2001 (i.e. 15 working days with a potential extension by additional
15 working days).

Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Yours sincerely,
