Dear Mr Hoedeman,

Thank you for your e-mail dated 7 January 2015 registered on 8 January 2015 under the above mentioned reference number.

Your request for information relates to meetings held by Members of the Cabinet of Lord Hill. In particular you request:

a. "The minutes of the meetings which Chantal Hughes (Cabinet member of EU Commissioner Jonathan Hill) held with representatives of PwC and AFME (Association for Financial Markets in Europe) on 03/12/2014 and with representatives of the British Bankers' Association on 10/12/2014, both in Brussels.

b. The minutes of the meeting which Matthew Baldwin (Cabinet member of EU Commissioner Jonathan Hill) held with representatives of Global Counsel LLP on 02/12/2014.

c. The minutes of the meeting which Nathalie De Basaldua Lemarchand (Cabinet member of EU Commissioner Jonathan Hill) held with representatives of Afore Consulting on 02/12/2014."

In their meeting with Chantal Hugues, PwC and AFME came to present the report commissioned by AFME and produced by PwC issued a few days before the meeting and called "impact of bank structural reforms in Europe". It was very much an information gathering meeting for which no minutes were taken. As regards her meeting with BBA, Chantal Hugues met with Ashley Dorrington, new head of EU affairs for the BBA. It was agreed that the Commissioner would attend the 7th July BBA annual dinner in London and was willing to see a delegation of British bank Chairmen / CEOs when they come to Brussels. BBA and Ms. Hughes also discussed the Capital Markets Union, BBA informing the cabinet that they are hosting a CMU event on 26th Jan 2015, and the banking structural reform, with BBA stressing their concern not to be subject to double set of regulations or having to separate twice in different ways.

The meeting that M. Baldwin had on 2 December with Global Counsel was in fact a meeting that Commissioner Hill had with Lord Mandelson, who is head of Global Counsel, at which M. Baldwin was present. This was a general political conversation between the current UK Commissioner and a former UK Commissioner, and there were no minutes taken.

The meeting with Afore Consulting was a general discussion on Capital Markets Union on which no minutes were made by Ms de Basaldua..

Yours sincerely,
