Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

How much money was administered in daily expenses to Members of the European Parliament in total, per MEP, per month in the years 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Thank you very much for your attention.

Dear Ms Anderica,

Following your request concerning figures related to the budget involved
in allowances for Members of the European Parliament, please note that
global figures are to be found in the EU Budget:
http://eur-lex.europa.eu/budget/www/inde...

In particular Section 1, "Budget of the European Parliament", "Chapter
10 - Members of the Institution" includes the different budget lines
related to appropriations for Members' salaries and allowances. See, for
instance, in the 2012 Budget:

http://eur-lex.europa.eu/budget/data/D20... (page 19 of
the pdf document = 144 of the Official Journal document)

You can get the equivalent information via the relevant links for the
other years:

2011: http://eur-lex.europa.eu/budget/data/D20...

2010: http://eur-lex.europa.eu/budget/data/D20...

2009: http://eur-lex.europa.eu/budget/data/D20...

Dear Registre,

Thank you for your response, but unfortunately the information you have given me does not correspond to the information I have requested.

From what I understand, you have sent me the overall budget of the Parliament in which there are several references to different expenses. However, I have asked more specifically to access the exact amount that each Member of the European Parliament received during the years 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 under the concept of daily expenses. I have also asked to receive that information ordered monthly where possible.

Thank you very much for your attention. I look forward to your answer.

Yours sincerely,

Victoria Anderica

Dear Ms Anderica,

Individual figures for every MEP are not available. However, with regards
to your request, we would like to point out that a large part of the
information is available online:
[1]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/aboutparli...
(please scroll down to the MEP's allowances section).

As you will see,  all MEPs have access to the same general expenditure
allowance and daily subsistence allowance, which are paid out in (fixed)
lump sums. While the general expenditure allowance is paid on a monthly
basis and covers all office-related costs in the MEP's constituency, the
daily allowance covers MEPs' costs away from home (Brussels or Strasbourg)
on a daily basis. You can find more information on MEPs and their
allowances here:
[2]http://www.europarl.europa.eu/resources/...
(pages12-14)

It might be of interst to you the comparative figures ('cost' of MEPs
compared to cost of MPs in the UK) produced on the basis of this
information and the relevant figures in the EU budget provided to you
previously. Please visit:

[3]http://www.europarl.org.uk/view/en/media...

[4]http://www.europarl.org.uk/en/Media/Euro...

We hope this information is useful to you.

You are of course welcome to contact any Member individually if you have
any further questions on particular allowances.
