Dear Mr. Carrilero,

Thank you for your email and interest in the European Food Safety
Authority (EFSA).

EFSA’s role is to provide independent scientific advice on matters linked
to food and feed safety. EFSA’s risk assessments provide risk managers
(i.e. the European Commission, European Parliament and Member States) with
the sound scientific advice that helps them to take the final legislative
or regulatory decisions required to ensure that European food is safe for
consumers.

Please note that, as a risk assessment agency, EFSA is not involved in the
management of PAFF Committees, which support the European Commission in
its implementing powers granted by the EU law (for more information,
please see the Commission’s [1]webpage on “Comitology”). These Standing
Committees are composed of representatives of all EU countries and
presided by a European Commission representative. Therefore, with regards
to your question, we would like to invite you to contact the European
Commission and, in particular, the Directorate-General responsible for
Health and Food Safety ([2]DG SANTE) or visit their [3]website. Through
this [4]link, you can find some more information about the Novel Food and
Toxicological Safety section of the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals,
Food and Feed (SC-PAFF).

Should you need any further information on our activities, please do not
hesitate to contact the [5]Ask EFSA Service again. Our
EFSA.public.access.to.documents mailbox remains open to address any public
access to documents request under Regulation 1049/2001 applicable to our
Agency.

Kind regards,
