Schengen IT systems data
Dear European Border and Coast Guard Agency,
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, and given the fact that IT systems for border control allow border guards to check individuals entering the Schengen area at authorised border-crossing points, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:
- Number of short-stay Schengen visas issued monthly per country from 2010 onwards, specifying the nationality of third-country nationals.
- Number of checks conducted at border-crossing points monthly per country from 2010 onwards, specifying the nationality of the person and whether she or he was detected trying to illegally cross the border or allowed to enter the Schengen area.
- Number of hits regarding wanted persons and objects based produced in the IT common systems.
Thanks in advance.
Yours faithfully,
Álvaro Merino

Dear Mr Merino,
A confirmatory application is possible only in case of a total or partial refusal in the sense of Article 7(2) of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 or in case of failure by the institution to reply within the prescribed time-limit, as laid down in Article 7(3) of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001.
A case regarding 'Schengen IT systems data' has not been registered, consequently there were neither deadlines set in the sense of Article 7(1) of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001, to which Frontex did not adhere, nor was it possible for Frontex to render an initial decision in the sense of Article 7(2) of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001.
Your confirmatory application is thus dismissed.
