The 211th-240th Commission replies to confirmatory applications issued in 2019
Dear Secretariat General of the European Commission,
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:
The 211st to the 240th final decisions by the European Commission in confirmatory application procedures under Regulation 1049/2001 issued in 2019. (An initial request for access to the first 210 documents of this category was already made in 7 previous requests.)
The purpose for my request is academic research.
As with my previous highly similar request, explicitly excluded from my request are:
- Any personal data contained in these decision documents - which means that the Commission need not spend any time contacting third parties, and that I agree to the Commission pre-emptively suppressing the contents of any such sections.
- Any related documents - I am exclusively interested in the documents issuing decisions and the legal justification contained therein.
Moreover, where English-language versions of the documents are available, I seek access merely to the version in that language.
Since the current request is nearly identical in scope to my previous requests, I trust that no search for a fair solution procedure will be needed, so that the request can be handled in the shortest possible time frame.
In case any of the documents included in my request were already proactively published, I kindly request you to refer me to the precise URL at which they can be located.
My postal address is:
Dr. Maarten Hillebrandt
University of Helsinki
Faculty of Law
Eric Castrén Institute
Yliopistonkatu 3
00101 Helsinki
Finland
Although I kindly request you to send all relevant documents also in digital form to my email address: maarten.hillebrandt:@helsinki.fi.
Yours faithfully,
Maarten Hillebrandt

[5]Ares(2021)141404 - Your initial request for access to documents under

Dear Mr Hillebrandt,
I refer to your email of 17 December 2020, registered on the same day, in
which you submit an initial request for access to documents in accordance
with Article 7(1) of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 regarding public access
to European Parliament, Council and Commission documents (Official Journal
L 345 of 29.12.2001, p. 94.) (hereafter 'Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001').
The European Commission is sending you this communication pursuant to
Article 6(2) of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001.
In your initial request, you requested “The 211st to the 240th final
decisions by the European Commission in confirmatory application
procedures under
Regulation 1049/2001 issued in 2019.”
The European Commission identified these documents. However, considering
your possible future requests, please note that the Commission passed only
two additional confirmatory decisions in 2019. In order to avoid
additional administrative work, the Commission is ready to assess these
additional two confirmatory decisions under the same terms that it applies
to its 211^th to 240^th final decisions and decide on their disclosure in
the same way.
Therefore, we invite you to provide us with a clarification as regards
whether:
(a) you agree that your initial request will be extended to the 241^st and
242^nd final decisions by the European Commission; or
(b) you prefer to keep the original scope of your request (that is, the
211^th to the 240^th final decisions by the European Commission in
confirmatory application procedures).
Please send your reply by email to: [6][email address] within
three working days.
Thank you in advance for your understanding.
Yours sincerely,
