Please find attached document Ares(2020)2944278 from WATSON John (SG.DSG2.E) dated 08/06/2020.

Dear ve_sg.dsg2.e1(SG),

Thank you for your reply. It appears from your response that no recording of the meeting was made between the Commission President and the CEO of one of the US's largest big data analytics firms. Can you please inform me why this was the case? I find it unconscionable that the Commission would fail to record the minutes of such a meeting out of an act of judgement. Thank you for your cooperation.

Yours sincerely,

Samuel Stolton

Dear Secretariat General of the European Commission,

Further to my reply, please pass on the following message to the individual who reviews confirmatory applications.

I am filing the following confirmatory application with regards to my access to documents request: Von der Leyen Meeting.

Given that the meeting between Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and the CEO of Palantir Technologies Inc. of 22 January 2020 is recorded in the European Commission’s own transparency register (see https://ec.europa.eu/transparencyregiste... ), I find it hard to believe that the Commission holds no documents in relation to this meeting whatsoever, unless the entry in the transparency register is incorrect.

Should this be the case, the European Commission should inform me that the meeting in question did not take place and instead interpret the access to documents request to extend to any other meeting between Commission President von der Leyen and people representing the interests of Palantir Technologies regardless of employment status, that took place in 2020.

As detailed in my initial request for access to documents, my request is not limited to minutes of the meeting between President von der Leyen and people representing the interests of Palantir Inc., but all documentation related to the meeting. This could include, but is not limited to, correspondence between the European Commission and Palantir Technologies Inc or its representatives leading up to the meeting, invitations, e-mails, text messages, scene-setters, basis documents, memos or drafts.

This request extends to any information that the European Commission holds in relation to this meeting, including information that may have been deemed short-lived or unimportant.

Thank you for your assistance.

Yours faithfully,
Samuel Stolton

Dear Mr Stolton,

I refer to your email of 8 June 2020, registered on the same day, by which
you submit a confirmatory application in accordance with Article 8(1) of
Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 regarding public access to European
Parliament, Council and Commission documents ("Regulation (EC) No
1049/2001"), registered under reference number GESTDEM 2020/2706.

Your confirmatory applications are currently being handled. Unfortunately,
we have not yet been able to gather all the elements needed to carry out a
full analysis of your requests and to take a final decision. Therefore, we
are not in a position to reply to your confirmatory requests within the
prescribed time limit which expires on 29 June 2020.

Consequently, we have to extend this period by another 15 working days in
accordance with Article 8(2) of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001. The new
deadline expires on 20 July 2020.

However, I can assure you that we are doing our utmost to provide you with
a final reply within the next 15 working days.

I regret this additional delay and sincerely apologise for any
inconvenience this may cause.

Yours sincerely,
