Dear Ms Karin Åberg,
Reference is made to your email dated 6 December 2019, in which you submitted a request for access to information related to Statistics on how many of the asylum seekers on the hotspots in Greece are declared as vulnerable.
Your request was examined and consulted with the EASO’s Department of Operations and Department of Asylum Support, in particular the Vulnerability Team and Information and Analysis Sector, which resulted in the following communication:
EASO is supporting the Greek authorities in different fields of Asylum and Reception, including in the field of vulnerability, but EASO doesn’t have the mandate to assess the special needs or the vulnerability of applicants for international protection. The Reception and Integration Service (RIS), is the Greek authority managing the hotspots, while the medical care and assessments are done by KEELPNO, the Hellenic Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, under the authority of the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity. Therefore, the vulnerability assessment lies principally with the national authorities and they hold the ownership of the national data collection. You are invited to consult the relevant national authorities (http://asylo.gov.gr/).
We thank you for your interest in EASO. Please be assured that we remain at your disposal and assistance concerning any possible clarification you may need.
Yours sincerely
