Importance: High
Dear Executive Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis and Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski
The EU poultry meat sector totally support and understand the efforts from the Commission to help the
Ukrainian people in these very difficult times. But we need to express our concerns on the Commission
proposal to lift all tariffs an quotas on imports from Ukraine when it comes to import of poultry meat. Our
members expect that our sector will be heavily affected by this measure and we fear that it could totally
destabilize the EU poultry meat market which is already experiencing a very difficult situation due to the
huge increase of feed and energy costs and the worst epizootic Avian Influenza season the sector has ever
experienced.
Therefore we would appreciate having a meeting with you both as soon as possible in order to discuss our
concerns and to find solutions to avoid the disruption of the EU poultry meat market.
A representative from COPA COGECA, who share the same concerns, would like to participate to the
meeting, should you accept our request.
We are looking forward to hearing from you in the very near future.
Kind regards
