Draft agenda for the US-EU workshop on endocrine disruption (with
attachment)
Dear Colleagues,
As most of you are aware, on the initiative of the US we are planning to organise an US-EU
workshop on endocrine disruption on 6-7 October in Brussels. The objective of the initiative is to
foster US – EU cooperation on scientific issues related to promoting chemical safety in regard to
endocrine disruption. The workshop would aim to discuss similarities and differences between
US and EU approaches for screening, prioritisation, hazard and risk identification as regards
endocrine disruption.
The proposed agenda for the workshop is enclosed. It is based on the US proposal and our
additions. It is in tracked changes to illustrate what was a US proposal and what are our
suggestions.
I would very much welcome to receive your feedback on the proposed agenda and on the
participants from the EU side.
In addition I would like to ask:

ECHA whether they could agree to make a presentation on the screening exercise under
REACH and on the risk assessment of Bisphenol A and to act as a back up for
presentation on phthalates and nonyl/octyl phenols in case the indicated members
states would not accept the invitation;

EFSA whether they could agree to make a presentation of the risk assessment of
Bisphenol A and of the risk assessment of a pesticide where ED concerns were flagged
(preferably the same as US would do).

JRC whether they could agree to make a presentation of JRC's work on high through put
screening  and non-animal approaches and on the screening exercise for potential EDs
in the impact assessment.

ENV colleague from the Water unit whether she could agree to make a presentation on
the last prioritisation exercise under WFD, and in particular on identification of
substances due to their ED properties.
Thank you very much for your feedback (preferably by 14 September).
Best regards,
