On JP, while VDA is generally supportive of trade deals, and is not afraid of
facing competition from abroad, it also questioned the benefits of having an FTA -
as a 10% duty on EU side was a significant concession in terms of final cost of
the car. While NTBs were targeted by our negotiations, VDA sees cultural
differences are the main obstacle to exports.
