RE: Public Consultation
Dear Mr
Thank you for your contribution to the public consultation and policy paper. Please find below
the answers to your questions.
Publication inputs
We will publish the contributions to the open public consultation within 15 working days
following the closing date of the public consultation. In addition, we will publish a simplified
statistical summary report of the results of the public consultation.
Next steps
Next steps are, apart from the above mentioned publications, analysing the content of the
received contributions and producing a synopsis report of the entire consultation result. The
synopsis report will be an integral part of the Impact Assessment report which has to be
prepared. Publication of the Impact Assessment and possible proposal for revision of Directive
2011/64/EU is foreseen for Q4 2017.
If you have other questions, please let me know.

Subject: Public Consultation
Dear Mr.
Dear Ms.
With this email, we simply wanted to confirm our inputs to the Public Consultation which we
uploaded some days ago. We have ticked all 42 questions in the Questionnaire but also
provided some clarifying comments as not always the question allowed for the necessary
nuance. Last but not least, we provided also a policy paper on the tax revision for the Directive
to be better equipped dealing with the novel products.
At this junction, we do have some practical questions on timing:
- when do you foresee to publish the inputs (we ticked the box to make our submission public) ?
is that immediate ?
- what would be the next steps thereafter ?
- we hear a rumour that the 3 Excise Directives need to move “at the same speed”, i.e. tobacco,
alcohol and circulation directives: if that is so, wouldn’t that have a delay effect on the tobacco
directive’s review?
With best wishes,
