meeting with Member States, Brussels, 22 January 2018 

Dear Madam, Dear Sir, 
I have the pleasure of inviting your government authorities to be represented at the first 
informal  meeting  on  the  implementation  of  the  European  Defence  Industrial 
Development Programme (EDIDP).  
The meeting will take place on 22 January 2018 from 10h00 to 13h00 in the: 
Centre Borchette 
Meeting room 1.B 
Rue Foissart 36 
1040 Brussels 
The  objective  of  this  meeting  would  be  to  initiate  a  discussion  about  the  modes  of  the 
implementation  of  the  EDIDP,  content  of  the  work  programme  and  to  reflect  on  the 
capability priorities which should represent a basis for a definition of project categories. 
In addition, a discussion about possible approach to the SMEs cross-border collaboration 
is  envisaged.  To  help  focus  the  discussion,  a  scoping  paper  on  the  implementation  of 
EDIDP will be circulated ahead of the meeting. 
Please notice that this preliminary discussion will take place without prejudice to the on-
going  negotiations  between  the  Council  and  the  European  Parliament  and  should  only 
serve  as  an  opportunity  of  an  informal  exchange  of  views  between  Member  States  and 
the  Commission.  Formal  arrangements  will  continue  in  a  comitology  framework  in  a 
Programme Committee which has been identified in the proposal.  
Appointed  representatives  of  your  government  should  confirm  their  participation  by 
filling  in  and  returning  the  attached  Registration  Form  to  no 
later than 15 January 2018.

Participants should present themselves at the meeting venue with a copy of this Invitation 
Letter. Please note that, in the absence of this document and confirmed registration, the 
Security Services may refuse access to the building. 
Please also note that no travel expenses will  be reimbursed by the Commission  for this 
meeting.  Due  to  the  room  capacity,  each  delegation  is  invited  to  participate  with  a 
maximum of 2 participants.
