Dear
,
Thank you for your email to my colleagues and for accepting their visit to
your premises in Paris during the fact finding mission concerning the
official controls on internet sales of food we have carried out recently in
France.
Besides the opportunity to better understand the development of the
online food sales and related controls, we also took note of the challenges
you are encountering and the proposals you made. These have been
forwarded to the relevant units dealing with policy/legislation on the topics
raised by you and will for sure be subject to our internal discussions. Our
Directorate F is mainly dealing with audits/missions in Member States and
non EU countries and as this is a government to government activity our
main interlocutors are the competent authorities in the countries. As
internet sales of food is a very interesting and prospering business it is
good to have a contact point at one of the key players in this business and
we will very likely come back to your offer for a meeting or for further
information in the future.
Our fact finding activities in selected Member States will finish in the
second half of the year and an overview report will be published
afterwards.
Kind regards
European Commission

Subject: RE: EU Commission Meeting notes
Dear
,
Thank you for taking the time to visit Amazon’s Prime Now site in Paris last Friday. We
enjoyed meeting with you and your colleaguees from DGCCRF and the Czech competent
authority.
We were particularly glad to have had the opportunity to constructively discuss avenues
for further harmonization and simplification in the framework of existing EU Food
regulations and their national implementations.
As we scale up our food related operations across Europe we welcome homogenous
standards and guidelines across the EU. We believe this will greatly stimulate
competition, improve efficiencies and benefit consumers and business operators alike.
In this context we would like to reiterate, that a lack of harmonization in the area of
food temperature controls in business to consumers transactions and the absence of
readily accessible food registration evidence are particular matters on which we seek a
genuine dialogue to identify solutions for the benefit of alll.
If you require more information to complete your report or would prefer a follow up
meeting at your offices in Brussels or Ireland please do let us know.
I will be your point of contact within Amazon going forward. Do not hesitate to contact
me if I can be of any further assistance.
Kind regards,
r EU Public Policy
