You wil be meeting with Archbishop Alain Paul Lebeaupin, Apostolic Nuncio to the
EU.

Objectives
Inform about the Paris Declaration adopted on 17 March and express commitment
to give an operational follow-up to the Declaration by mobilising the existing policy
frameworks (ET2020) and funding instruments (Erasmus+)
Stress the role of religious and non-confessional organisations in delivering on the
objectives of the Paris Declaration and cal for closer cooperation with education
stakeholders and youth organisations at local, regional, national and EU level
Key messages
The EU has a deep political commitment to cultural diversity and heritage, as wel
as religious freedom and intercultural dialogue.
The informal meeting of European Education Ministers in Paris on 17 March and
the common Declaration agreed there marked the EU's determination to promote
social inclusion, combat prejudice, foster civic and social competences through
education.
You are personal y committed to take concrete action to support the Member
States in this (new EU priorities for education and training, reinforcing the third
strategic objective under ET2020 on "Promoting equity, social cohesion and active
citizenship"; targeted use of Erasmus+; inclusion of education in the European
Agenda on Security.)
