OUT OF SCOPE
The meeting took place at the request of Heineken's company with a view to exchange on the
trade relations with Mexico.
As an introduction to the global economic environment, Art.4.1(b)
 and Mr Ceballos
exchanged on the recent announcements done by the US on border tax, reform of the US tax
system and possible renegotiations of NAFTA. Both parties concurred that at this stage there are
just some announcements but no concrete proposals so far.
As regards the trade relations with Mexico,  Art.4.1(b)
 explained that Heineken had 7
breweries in Mexico (including one being built).
Art.4.2(a)
Mr Ceballos presented the state of play of the negotiations with Mexico and explained that
Mexico and the EU seek to deepen and broaden the trade commitments, including as regards
SPS mechanism and tariff liberalization for agriculture products.
As a follow up action, Art.4.1(b)
offered to provide a factsheet to DG TRADE. Mr Ceballos
welcomed this initiative.
