681 absent MEPs #los629delAquarius

La demande est partiellement réussie.

Canal Refugiadxs

Dear European Parliament,

Under the right of access to documents contemplated in the EU treaties, and developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I request the documents that contain the following information:

At the opening of the plenary session, held last Monday, June 11, 2018, it was approved with 212 votes to include an extraordinary discussion point to address the situation in the Mediterranean.

70 are the MEPs who have been present at the debate "Humanitarian emergencies in the Mediterranean and solidarity in the EU" that was held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, during the plenary session of the European Parliament taking place in Strasbourg. There were only 70 of 751, not even 10% of the whole camera.

Can you tell us what these 681 MEPs had on their agendas that was so important that they didn't come to this debate to address this very necessary issue in which so many human lives are at stake?

2015 - 2936 Migrant Fatalities
2016 - 4258 Migrant Fatalities
2017 - 2782 Migrant Fatalities
2018 - 1417 Migrant Fatalities
2018 - 681 absent MEPs

Dear AccesDocs,

The video is very beautiful. It is clear that MEPs have a very tight agenda, what we are asking is how is it possible that such an important issue (in which so many human lives are at stake) is not a top priority issue for the European Parliament and there may be such an absence huge of our representatives. Is there a transparent agenda in which this detailed that MEPs were doing at the time when the extraordinary debate was held to address the situation in the Mediterranean?

Yours sincerely,

Canal Refugiadxs

Dear Canal Refugiadxs,

In reply to your follow-up request, dealt under Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001, the following documents have been identified.

- Agendas and minutes of parliamentary committee meetings (normally taking place in Brussels but in extraordinary cases in Strasbourg during plenary sessions) are available on Parliament’s Public Register of Documents:

http://www.europarl.europa.eu/RegistreWe...

http://www.europarl.europa.eu/RegistreWe...

It is possible to refine the search by using several criteria (Date, Authority, etc.)

- Additionally, political groups meetings and other meetings are displayed daily on the web calendar, available on the plenary internet page:
http://www.europarl.europa.eu/plenary/en...

The calendar does not display the past meetings. Nevertheless, by selecting the dates of the next plenary session, i.e. 2 to 5 July 2018, you will obtain the lists of meetings to be held each of these days, besides the plenary. These meetings are the usual ones that normally take place during plenary sessions.

No other documents have been identified falling within the scope of your request.

In this respect, Parliament informs you that the scope of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001, as defined in its Article 2(3), extends only to documents held by the institutions (in this case Parliament) and therefore Parliament is not obliged to create new documents for the purpose of replying an application.

On this basis Parliament considers your request as handled and the file closed. Please do not hesitate to come back to us, should you have any new request for specific Parliament documents.

Yours sincerely,
