PRESIDENCY FLASH
Information to the Attachés of the Working Party on
Technical Harmonisation (Dangerous Substances -
Chemicals)
Dear Colleagues,
We would like to inform you about the state-of-play with the proposed
Delegated Regulation (12919/19+ADD1) amending the CLP
Regulation which we examined at our meeting on 8 November 2019.
After the indicative non-objection vote at the above WP meeting, the proposal
was included as an I item for Coreper I on 20 November 2019 but at the
beginning of the Coreper meeting, it was withdrawn from the agenda due to
the EP's ENVI Committee having asked for an extension of the examination
period until 4 February 2020.
On 3 December 2019, the ENVI Committee voted for non-objection.
Under the present circumstances, both the EP and the Council have
until 4 February 2020 to express any position.
In the absence of any new elements to discuss, the Finnish Presidency will not
organise another Working Party, the possibility of which was mentioned at
Coreper.
We will leave to the upcoming Croatian Presidency the freedom to decide on
the next steps.
On behalf of the Finnish Presidency Team,
Jenni Hakala
Chair of the Working Party
