3.1 Research, innovation and technology
Under Horizon Europe, the Commission proposes to spend EUR 10 billion in R&I related to food,
bioeconomy, natural resources, agriculture, fisheries, aquaculture and environment as well as to the
use of digital technologies, including data, AI, IoT and robotics for agrifood.
Under Digital Europe Programme, the Commission proposes to invest in world-class large scale
testing and experimentation facilities for agrifood which will contribute to the achievement of the
Farm to Fork strategy objectives.

In particular, a mission in the area of soil health and food will aim at developing solutions including
via digital technologies for restoring soil health and soil functions.
3.2 Advisory services, data and knowledge sharing
The Commission will develop a Farm Sustainability Data Network that will allow primary producers
to monitor not only their economic results but also their environmental and climate performance.
Moreover, in the recent European Data Strategy the Commission referred to agriculture as one of
the strategic areas for development of sectoral data spaces[1].

In its Long Term Vision for Rural areas and based on the Connectivity for a European Gigabit Society,
it will also ensure that access to fast broadband internet (100Mbit/sec upgradable to 1Gigabit/sec)
in rural areas reach 100% by 2025 so that technology and knowledge-based solutions can be
developed.

Dedicated R&I implementation plan for actions relevant for Farm to Fork Strategy under Horizon
Europe and Digital Europe Programme.
