The Cabinet of VP Schinas presented the portfolio of the Vice-President and the most relevant
deliverables of the first 100 days of the new European Commission.
Huawei welcomed the 5G Toolbox, which they believe positively contributes to the strengthening of
cybersecurity in the EU. They explained that the implementation of the toolbox will require a
transparent approach and clear criteria from Member states. They emphasised that the fragmentation
of the regulatory frameworks in cybersecurity across the world may create difficulties. They highlighted
that they comply with all the cybersecurity requirements and are opting for a transparent strategy on
the topic. Finally, they asked more information about the upcoming Security Strategy.
The Cabinet explained that according to the European Commission work programme 2020 the new
Security Union Strategy is planned to be announced Q2 and that it will have a wide scope. The Cabinet
also invited Huawei to participate in the current public consultation on the AI White Paper, and
generally to all public consultations, and to share contributions when they see relevant.
