REMARKS:
In accordance with the EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement
(CETA), the third Joint Management Committee (JMC) meeting under the Sanitary and
phytosanitary measures (SPS) Chapter is scheduled for 21-23 April 2020 in Canada,
Ottawa.
In preparation of this Committee meeting, Member States are kindly invited to provide
by Monday 2 March 2020 an update on their SPS related market access issues and
suggestions for agenda items to follow-up with Canada during the upcoming SPS
Committee meeting under CETA. Member State officials that would like to participate in
the JMC in Ottawa are kindly invited to provide their contact details at the latest by
20 March 2020.
Taken into account previous work with the Canadian authorities, in follow-up of the
second CETA JMC on SPS matters, the Commission has drafted a first list of agenda
points, mainly of interest to the EU, available in annex to this note. The final JMC agenda
will be established in collaboration with our Canadian counterparts.
Member States are kindly invited to provide comments/suggestion on the proposed list of
agenda items.
