Dear Mr Drenger,

The Citizens’ Enquiries Unit of the European Parliament (EP) has been
asked to reply to your request for information regarding costs of
videostreaming technology used by Parliament.

We would inform you that, since its implementation in 2008, the European
Parliament's webstreaming system offers real-time consultation and
recordings of plenary sessions, parliamentary committee meetings and other
events in all languages of interpretation.

Despite occasional technical issues that may have disrupted the real-time
transmission in certain circumstances, the webstreaming system works and
has always worked.

The competent services of the European Parliament work continuously to
upgrade the webstreaming platform by taking into account new technologies
and the diversity of video consultation channels.

Many IT teams are implicated and join their efforts for the constant
improvement of the platform.

At the end of 2016, the European Parliament awarded a public contract for
the implementation of a new webstreaming platform.

Documentation regarding this procedure, including Annex I, Technical
Specifications, can be accessed publicly via the TED portal with the
following reference: COMM/DG/AWD/2016/763:

The amount covered by this contract is specified in point V.2.4.

We thank you for contacting the European Parliament.

Yours sincerely,

Citizens' Enquiries Unit
