Dear Mr Fanta,

Please find attached document Ares(2022)1299285 regarding "Your request for access to documents - GestDem 2022/0079" sent by Mr Roberto Viola, General Director of DG CONNECT on 21/02/2022.

Dear Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union,

Please pass this on to the person who reviews confirmatory applications.

I am filing the following confirmatory application with regards to my access to documents request 'Documents on crypto mining'.

I understand the need to protect ongoing decision-making. However, I would like to point out that the partial disclosure in Document 9 may give rise to precisely the kind of speculations and misinterpretation that your reply has warned again. By redacting the information on the left of the page, it is difficult to tell which actor in the conversation said what. Nonewithstanding the right to privacy of individuals present, I was hoping you could clarify which institution said what part of the dialogue. Given that the Commission has already disclosed the statements themselves, it seems reasonable to avoid a misunderstanding of who made them. I believe this could help to guard against any kind of false understanding of the substance of the document once it becomes available to the public at large.

Yours faithfully,

Alexander Fanta
