Dear Taskforce on Article 50 negotiations with the United Kingdom,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain information:

1. Relating to circumstances in which the EU and / or one or more of it's member states would be deemed to have breached the terms of the Protocol on Ireland and Northern Ireland (the so-called “backstop” ref http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_MEM... ).

2. Relating to the European Union's view of the legitimacy of a Referendum in which the British people were asked if they wished to leave the Protocol on Ireland and Northern Ireland without necessarily adhering to its provisions.

3. Relating to the actions the EU would take in circumstances where the UK unilaterally withdrew from the Protocol on Ireland and Northern Ireland without the agreement of the EU. For example, where the UK government had held a binding referendum in which the British people voted to leave the the Protocol on Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Thank you

Yours faithfully,

Paul Mc Crory
