La demande est réussie.

Dear European Institute for Gender Equality,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

The wage gap between men and women (preferably the difference in per cent) in each of the existing EU member states.

Yours faithfully,

Sian Conway

Merle Paats, Institut européen pour l’égalité entre les hommes et les femmes

Dear Sian Conway,

To measure the wage gap between men and women in the EU, the unadjusted Gender Pay Gap indicator (GPG) is used. The GPG represents the difference between average gross hourly earnings of male paid employees and of female paid employees as a percentage of average gross hourly earnings of male paid employees based on the Structure of Earnings Survey coordinated by Eurostat. Data are available in Eurostat database in the table "Gender pay gap in unadjusted form in % - NACE Rev. 2 (structure of earnings survey methodology) [earn_gr_gpgr2] (available here:

Please find attached the table with the latest data for all EU Member States, downloaded from Eurostat database. Please, do not hesitate to come back if you have any question regarding with GPG.

Best regards,
Merle Paats
