Dear European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control,
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:
How many cases of Hepatitis C Infection attributable to blood or blood products were reported by the UK between the years 1988 and 1998?
Yours faithfully,
JJ Evans
Dear Sir / Madam,
We refer to your e-mail dated 03/01/2019 in which you make a request for
access to documents, registered on 03/01/2019 under the above mentioned
reference number.
We regret to inform you that no documents were found that would correspond
to the description given in your application, since ECDC does not have any
data on Hepatitis C Infection in the UK between the years 1988 and 1998.
Our earliest data from the UK go back to 2006.
Indeed, as specified in Article 2(3) of Regulation 1049/2001, the right of
access as defined in that Regulation applies only to existing documents in
the possession of the institution.
Given that no such documents have been identified, ECDC is not in a
position to handle your request.
In accordance with Article 7(2) of Regulation 1049/2001, you are entitled
to make a confirmatory application requesting ECDC to review this
position.
Such a confirmatory application should be addressed within 15 working days
upon receipt of this letter to
