Dear Sir,

Thank you for your e-mail of 3 June 2022. We hereby acknowledge receipt of
your application for access to documents, which was registered on

will be handled within 15 working days.

The time limit will expire on 28 June 2022. In case this time limit needs
to be extended, you will be informed in due course.

You have lodged your application via a private third-party website, which
has no link with any institution of the European Union.

Therefore, the European Commission cannot be held accountable for any
technical issues or problems linked to the use of this system.

Please note that the private third party running the AsktheEU.org website

Dear SG E-2,

Thank you for your email, and apologies for the delayed reply.

On the basis that the Commission Recommendation (EU) 2019/534 on the Cybersecurity of 5G networks was published on 26th March 2019, this would be the most appropriate starting point for consideration of documents that match the broad descriptions communicated in my earlier request.

Yours sincerely,

Dear SG E-2,

First, apologies for the delayed response - I have been on annual leave and not checking my emails.

Second, I am confused as to why my request was closed, when - as requested - I provided clarification by email on 30th June 2022, almost two weeks before notification that my request was closed. A record of my submitted clarification is available publicly owing to the fact that I am submitted requests via the 'Ask the EU' website. https://www.asktheeu.org/en/request/huaw...

I would ask kindly if the request could be re-opened on the basis that I had submitted clarification of my initial request in a timely manner. Otherwise, please consider this the start of a new request:

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

Communications between Huawei Europe and the European Commission regarding the development of the EU toolbox for 5G security of 2021.

Communications between Huawei Europe and the European Commission regarding the implementation of the toolbox for 5G security after its introduction up to the present date (03/06/2022).

'Communications' here taken to cover emails, telephone calls, videoconferencing, letters, meetings (information on dates/times and minutes thereof where available).

The starting date for coverage of this request is 26th March 2019.

Yours faithfully,

Scott Brown
